Partying sober? That’s a thing?
Lights. Hip hop music blasting. Dancing. Oh, we almost forgot the obvious: booze and drugs. These are all classic examples of things people experience at parties. Some party goers might only drink a pint a beer, some might occasionally fill their lungs with weed, some might “go hard or go home” drinking their way to the hospital.
Surprisingly, there are also party goers who rave sober. Now, we know what your thinking, but NO, these sober party goers don’t have to be designated drivers for the night to have a desire to keep sober. Some never drank or smoked in their life and some quit drinking, using or smoking.
It may sound strange that people party sober because it seems like it’s a must to drink, pop pills, or smoke in order to have fun raving.
Often party goers use because of peer pressure and the anxieties around fitting in and letting loose. Everyone wants to fit in and do what most of our friends do and that’s normal. It’s the way the human mind works.
However, any party goer should try partying sober at least once. Just like being “high” or “buzzed”, “Drunk” or “wasted”, being “sober” is a state of mind of it’s own, and provides an experience that is unparalleled and the one that can be experienced most often without repercussion.
We highly recommend reading Laura Willoughby’s article about partying sober.
