A Poetic Pep Talk

LOVE yourself. You are a gift and nothing would be the same without you. There are 7.28 billion people in this world, and not one of them is you. That’s pretty impressive. Everything that you contribute in this world is important. You make a difference, so you need to give yourself some credit for it. And before you can have anyone else loving you, you need to love yourself. Loving yourself only leads to a healthy mind and body, confidence, and appreciation of yourself.

TIME is a beautiful thing. In order for a little caterpillar to become a beautiful bright butterfly, it needs to go through a transformation process. That confident, colorful display that the butterfly has wasn’t given at birth or made overnight; it took a while. So when you’re working on building your confidence don’t ever let yourself become discouraged. No matter how frustrating or insecure you may feel, just keep reminding yourself to just keep going, or as Dory from Finding Nemo would say, “Just keep swimming!”

LOOK inside. Stop comparing yourself to others! Stay focused on you! When you stop caring about how other people think about you, you start caring more about how YOU think about you. Maintaining a healthy and clear mind and eliminating stress factors from your life is essential. Not allowing the opinions of others to pull you down will allow you to have a happier and more confident life. Comparing yourself to others will only make you feel less than what you are. And let us tell you: you are one special person.

RELAX. Just go with the flow and don’t stress over the little things. There’s no need to stress over anything. Take a breath, reevaluate your situation, and really determine whether or not it is worth your time or effort to get upset over. In life you have to choose your battles. You deserve to be stress-free, and happy. When things get hectic, just remember what you have and not what you don’t. Find your rhythm, let life flow with you.

THINK Positively and look for the good in every situation. Do you remember when you were a kid, and the adults would say things like “it takes more muscles in your face to frown than it does to smile?” Or, “you’re gonna have a bunch of wrinkles on your forehead if you continue to frown like that.” Well, there was an impressive amount of truth behind those words. You need to take the negativity, and turn it into something positive. Find a silver lining, turn that frown upside down, that’s the only way to thrive.

DO what you love. Life is too short to waste your time on doing anything else. Find a hobby. Try new things. You only have one life, so why spend your time on anything else other than what you love to do. Time is the most precious and valuable thing. Time is also one thing in your life you cannot get back. So if you like to cook, go to culinary school. If you like to do hair and make up go to cosmetology school. If you like math and science, go to a University. Find a planet. Go to the moon. Find your favorite place, spend more time there. Find your favorite people, spend more time with them, and let them know you love them. If you like to travel and take pictures, find a way to earn an income doing that, you need to take advantage of the time that you do have, and do what’s best for you.

Life can definitely be hard sometimes. There are no perfect answers. Only steps to take. One day at a time. One foot in front of the next.
